Managing your diabetes at home
For diabetes week 2020, we're sharing tips on how to stay well and active at home.
Many of us are self-isolating, shielding or spending more time at home. Staying active, eating healthily and looking after our mental health can be difficult, but we’ve put together some tips to support you during this time.

Looking after your mental and emotional wellbeing
- Try and stick to a routine
- Be prepared for possible sick days
- Look after your mind – see our Talking Therapies website for support
- Connect with others online
Eating well
- Eat a variety of foods
- Take a vitamin D supplement if indoors a lot of the day
- Avoid snacking out of boredom – try set eating times and having healthy snacks ready
- Make a list to stick to when shopping
Keeping active at home
- Try some hobbies that raise your heart rate, e.g. DIY or gardening
- Follow NHS exercise videos
