We’ve been recognised as a Global Digital Exemplar (GDE)
We’re officially at the forefront of digital development, thanks to a £5m funding award from NHS England.
We’re just one of seven NHS trusts delivering mental health services in England to be named as a ‘Global Digital Exemplar (GDE)’ for transforming patient care and engagement through new technology.
Already a leader in digital maturity across the NHS, we are now planning to become world-leading in the use of IT, rolling out a number of cutting edge initiatives, such as:
- A health and social care solution for all providers that patients, families and carers can access. It will allow for two-way communication, automated and paperless appointments and online treatments
- Paperless wards and services, digitising observations, creating patient safety and early warning systems, and introducing ‘live bed’ capacity and real time dashboards for the crisis team
- A digital workforce, allowing staff to gather evidence around the effectiveness of services, create evidence-based care packages, smart alerts and notifications directly supporting planned an unplanned care in the community and Skype clinician consultations
- Knowledge sharing with other providers, universities and research bodies to develop treatments and improve effectiveness, highlighting good practice and supporting national and global developments

This award supports our wider aim to be a leading provider of mental and physical health services, and our ambition to be the first trust of our kind to receive an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating.
