Youth support service
If you’re aged under-18 and have had contact with the police or courts, the Liaison and Diversion service can support you.
We’re an NHS team, and work alongside the police and courts.
We help people who have been in contact with the police.
We can help improve your mental and physical health if you’re having challenges caused by:
- Problems with drugs or alcohol
- Tough relationships at home
- Problems with friends or other people
- Anger and managing your moods, feelings or behaviour
- Education and employment
- Learning difficulties
We do this by creating a plan to help us to better understand your needs and see how we can support you.
We can meet you while you’re in custody or court but can also see you at home, school or another place.
It is up to you if you want to have a meeting with us. The meeting is not part of the police investigation.
With your permission, your plan will be shared with people who are involved in your care, such as your school or college, social services or youth offending teams.
We can highlight any issues you’re dealing with to people investigating your contact with the police.
This will help them to better understand your situation and make the right decisions for you and your health.
