Mandy Proctor celebrates 50 years in the NHS

This month we celebrate a special milestone – 50 years of dedicated NHS service by Mandy Proctor!

Mandy started her journey with us at Upton Hospital on 3 September 1974 and has worked at various sites throughout the years.

When asked about her favourite part of working at Berkshire Healthcare, Mandy said: “Being able to help patients and being part of a team who are more like family than colleagues.”

Receiving a personalised award

On Wednesday 18 September, Julian Emms, Chief Executive Officer for Berkshire Healthcare presented a special 50 years of service award to Mandy Proctor.

“It seems amazing to think about 50 years as a whole. When I came here, everyone was friendly, it was like a big family and I’ve always loved coming into work. As I lived [near Upton Hospital] for 10 years, I’ve been on this site more than anywhere else. I loved being secretary to the social club, too, and I even had my wedding reception there.

“I still thoroughly enjoy working for Berkshire Healthcare, and hope to have many more years here.”

While presenting the award, Julian said: “We have some remarkable people in the NHS, but Mandy’s 50 years of NHS service is an extraordinary landmark. It’s both a pleasure and a privilege to recognise such outstanding public service.”

Many of Mandy’s colleagues joined in celebrating this incredible milestone. Rachel Harker, Admin Team Lead for Sexual Health and Mandy’s line manager, expressed her gratitude: “I’ve only worked with Mandy for the last three years and in this time I can see she’s a hard working Medical Secretary. Her commitment and positive attitude is an asset to our service and I thank Mandy for her unwavering loyalty and contribution.

“I’m profoundly grateful for Mandy’s service and the experiences she shares with us all.”
