West Berkshire Community Hospital Remembrance Morning 2024
For a second year running, a remembrance morning was held at West Berkshire Community Hospital, to remember loved ones who have passed away at the hospital.

Family and friends were joined by staff in the hospital’s therapy garden where they heard from Jane Bywater, Palliative Medicine Consultant, followed by the hospital’s Chaplain, Simon Thorn, who read out an emotive poem. A rose bush was then planted by one of the hospital’s volunteer gardeners to honour those who had passed. The event provided a time and space where family and friends could talk about their loved ones, many spending time in the therapy garden for quiet reflection.
The morning was organised by Christine Stockwell, Wellbeing Therapist at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, who said:
“As our first remembrance morning held last year was so well received, I felt it was important to host a similar event again. Here at the hospital our care extends to the family and friends who have lost loved ones, so opening up the therapy garden to remember those that have passed here, whilst continuing our support to their relatives who have gone through such a difficult time, is hugely important”.
