Dental Service

If you’re unable to visit a general dentist because of a health condition, we can provide you with dental care.

Once you’ve been referred to us, we’ll put you onto the appointment waiting list, and contact you when a space becomes available.

During your check-up, we’ll ask you a few questions about your medical health and dental history. If needed, we will take or send you for an x-ray.

We’ll then discuss any treatments you may need, and any costs involved.

You can see a list of typical dental costs on the NHS website, but please only use this as a guide.

The total cost you will pay will depend on your treatment.

Visit the NHS website to read more about NHS Dental Costs (opens new browser tab)

If you receive any benefits that exempt you from paying dental charges, please bring some proof of this along to your appointment.

If you decide to go ahead with the treatment, we’ll arrange your next appointment.

If you're waiting for an appointment

We do receive many referrals, so it may take some time before we can see you.

We’ll contact you as soon as we can arrange an appointment with you.

If you have received a letter from us, you do not have to contact us about making an appointment.

If you have any problems in the meantime, we can offer emergency advice and if necessary, emergency treatment.

Call 0118 904 1524

We can help you if you’re unable to visit a general dentist because of a disability, health condition or specific dental problem, such as:

  • A learning or physical disability
  • A complex medical problem
  • A severe mental health problem
  • Dementia or frailty
  • Needing dental care at home

We check all referrals against our referral criteria.

If we think we can help you, we’ll send you a letter of acceptance.

If we don’t think we can support your needs, we’ll send you a letter explaining why, and may suggest an alternative service that we think may help.

You refer yourself or a relative to us, using the referral form.

We also take referrals for children who have complex dental issues or a particular dental problem that can’t be treated by their normal dentist.

This can include needing several teeth out or having a severe infection that requires general anaesthetic in a hospital.

We can also help with children who might be uncooperative or nervous and require sedation to allow treatment.
