A big congratulations to our incredible Bracknell Memory Service for being awarded with accreditation by the esteemed Royal College of Psychiatrists - a well-deserved long-term recognition for the incredible dedication of our staff.

The Memory Services National Accreditation Programme (MSNAP) is a quality improvement and accreditation network for services that assess, diagnose and treat dementia patients in the UK. It's a mark of their commitment to quality, lasting up to three years with a review for ongoing dedication to improvement.

About the Memory service

The Bracknell Memory clinic started around 18 years ago as a small outpatient service with two doctors. Since then, it has grown into a dedicated Memory service, welcoming a memory clinic nurse and expanding its team.

Now, part of the Older People’s Mental Health Team, every member in the Bracknell Memory service is devoted to offering support and a guiding hand for people with Dementia, and their families.

The Memory service have been going through the accreditation process since 2014, with reviews taking place every three years.

Dr Anees Syed, Consultant Psychiatrist said: “We believe that the MSNAP accreditation not only provides our patients and carers with the reassurance that we are an excellent service, but also evidences the high standards which we strive to achieve for the purposes of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and prepares team members for future inspections.

“It helps us to compare ourselves with other memory clinics nationally and know that we’re among the top performing memory clinics across the country when it comes to meeting MSNAP standards.

“We believe that MSNAP brings us closer as a team as we work towards a common goal of delivering excellence to our patients and their families.”

About the accreditation

The Memory Services National Accreditation Programme (MSNAP) is provided by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the professional body responsible for education and training, and setting and raising standards in psychiatry.

The accreditation assures you – our patients and their families, carers, frontline staff, commissioners, and managers – that we provide good quality care, exceeds quality standards, and shows that our staff are committed to making continuous improvements within the service.
